De La Salle Philippines (DLSP) Library Commission will be conducting a free webinar and online conference for librarians, library staff, and educators. This is the 4th DLSP Librarians' Conference, and the theme for 2022 is "Libraries Creating an Impact in Times of Change."  The conference will be on June 21-22, 2022 (Tuesday and Wednesday). The Conference is a research dissemination venue where DLSP library members shall share their research studies, which the larger library community may glean best practices, tap collaborations for interdisciplinary engagements, discover new possibilities, and contribute to the knowledge capital of the field. Hidden object games I'm not by any means a 'gamer' but I love casual games. There were two video games I loved in my high school days, American McGee's Alice and Alice: Madness Returns  but that's it. As a 90s kid, I still have memories of turning on a PC running on Windows XP, the madness of waiting for web pages to load because of slow dial-up internet, and killing time playing Minesweeper and Solitaire. I didn't know anything about RPGs but I was looking for things in hidden object games.  Internet is faster than ever in 2022, with countless websites, mobile apps, and social media platforms to choose from. But one may long for the simpler times of Yahoo Mail, GeoCities, Friendster, and actually touching grass outside instead of a smartphone. The Komisyón sa Wíkang Filipíno or the Commission on the Filipino Language has launched a free, online dictionary of the Filipino language: the KWF Diksiyonáryo ng Wíkang Filipíno . This online dictionary is derived from the Diksiyonaryo ng Wikang Filipíno that was first published in 1989. This is the first monolingual dictionary of the Filipino language with 31,245 words. It has been released in newer editions, and was once again edited and improved for the online edition. The author (left) and me on the right Last April 27, I was invited to a book signing of My Autobiography: Seasoned by Stress by Marco Toral . It is rare for me to be invited for a book signing with the author present, so I took the opportunity.  The author's story was featured in the Netflix documentary series Happy Jail . Imprisoned for drug possession for seven years, he later was hired as a consultant for the Cebu Provincial Detention and Rehabilitation Center. The author shared his story of spending time in prison and life after. Later, when he was hired in the jail, it definitely raised some questions. But Toral's experience as a former inmate made him sensitive to the needs of the other inmates and his perspective brought significant changes in the jail. The event was small, with some some ten to fifteen bloggers, media, and a few who work for jail management in the city. Illustration by Elle Batung (via CNN Philippines ) Department of Science and Technology-National Research Council (DOST-NRCP), in partnership with researchers from De La Salle University, is seeking to preserve the indigenous Mangyan language through a mobile dictionary app.  The Hanunoo-Mangyan language is spoken by the Mangyan indigenous peoples of Mindoro, Philippines. Currently, there are around 13,000 native speakers of the language. It is a critically endangered language and the writing system is rarely used at present. Their research is focused Language Preservation and Documentation of Hanunoo which includes studying enthnolinguistic vitality and creation of a mobile e-dictionary.
