NIPSC-VSC launches 'Papang Vic' virtual reference assistant

The Northern Iloilo Polytechnic State College Victorino Salcedo Campus (NIPSC-VSC) Main Library recently launched Papang Vic, their library virtual reference assistant. NIPSC  is a state college located in Estancia, Iloilo, Philippines. It is mandated to provide higher vocational, professional, and technical instruction and training in the fields of industry, agriculture, fishery, engineering and sciences, and short-term vocational technical continuing courses. It has 8 campuses, including a high school, in Iloilo.  Papang Vic is based on the namesake of the campus, Don Victorino Salcedo, who donated the land for the school.  According to their Facebook page, "The NIPSC-Victorino Salcedo Campus Library created a Facebook page CHAT PAPANG VIC to assist students virtually in their information needs. UP Visayas Library launches Chat Bisay

Photo credit: UP Visayas Library on Facebook The University of the Philippines in the Visayas Library recently launched 'Chat Bisay', their virtual reference service. 'Bisay' is short for Lib-VISAI, or the Library Virtual Services Assistance and Interactions. Bisay is the library virtual chat service for all UP Visayas constituents. According to a Facebook post, "Chat Bisay is using the Facebook platform. Bisay is the avatar used by the library as “virtual assistant” or persona that users interact with, though librarians are the ones who provide necessary information via chat messaging. Facebook is being used as the platform for this service as most of our users have a Facebook account and it is more convenient for them to send a message through Facebook messenger. SM launches My City, My SM, My Art book to celebrate Philippine Art

The My City, My SM, My Art  book just launched in time for the National Arts Month. This is the latest edition in the My City, My SM series, which celebrates the beauty, culture, traditions, and great people in cities around the Philippines where SM has malls. This comes after My City, My SM, which promotes tourism; My City, My SM, My Cuisine, which highlights heirloom recipes from prominent families in the different regions; and My City, My SM, My Crafts, which showcases traditional arts and modern Philippine design. My City, My SM, My Art celebrates Philippine visual arts – painting, sculpture, printmaking, photography, and filmmaking. It aims to bring people and art together in a roadshow featuring the works of masters, modernists, and millennials around the SM Supermalls.
