5th Iloilo Mega Book Fair (IMBF) 2022 on April 28-30

This April 28-30, 2022 will be the 5th Iloilo Mega Book Fair in Festive Walk Iloilo. The theme of this year's Book Fair is "Libro para sa tanan" ("Books are for all").  The Iloilo Mega Book Fair (IMBF) is considered to be one of the most successful book and literary initiatives in the country. It serves as a place for a lot of writers from all over the region to showcase their skill and the prowess in creating literary pieces, particularly those in Akeanon, Hiligaynon, and Kinaray-a. Kapebaluan coffee shop opens in Angeles City library, supports local coffee and farmers

Photo from Kapebaluan on Facebook A new coffee shop just opened in Angeles City, Pampanga that aims to promote locally-produced coffee and support local coffee farmers. The "Kapebaluan" is located on the ground floor of the City Library where one can enjoy reading a variety of books while sipping the city’s own blend of organic coffee. Aside from coffee (kape), the shop serves other beverages which it calls non-coffee (alang kape), tea (pang marimla), signature (tatak), and barista. Cafe goers have 19 flavors of these drinks to choose from. Mayor Carmelo Lazatin Jr. who was present during the opening of Kapebaluan, said the initiative to establish the cafe is aimed at helping the farmers improve their livelihood amid the coronavirus disease 2019 (Covid-19) pandemic and provide an opportunity to introduce the locally-produced coffee to a larger market. “While we aim to enable them to put food on the table, we also want to showcase our very own organic coffee. The Philippine Association of Academic and Research Librarians, Inc. (PAARL) will be holding their 2022 National Summer Conference for librarians on April 28-29, 2022 (Thursday to Friday). SM Prime, DOST launch mall exhibit series focused on sustainability, disaster resilience

SM Prime Holdings, Inc. (SM Prime) and the Department of Science and Technology (DOST) has partnered to raise awareness about sustainability and disaster resilience through an exhibit which which comes to Iloilo City last March 29, 2022. The installation, which showcases the initiatives of the two organizations, especially those related to addressing climate change, will be at SM City Iloilo until April 24, 2022 at the Northpoint Event Center. Climate change is the biggest environmental problem the world is facing today, with drastic increases in global temperatures recorded in recent years. According to the 2020 Annual Climate Report by the United States' National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration, the combined land and ocean temperature has increased at an average rate of 0.8°C per decade since 1880.
