UPV Library opens community pantry

Photo from UPV Facebook page The University of the Philippines in the Visayas Main Library in Miag-ao, Iloilo organized a community pantry as part of their outreach program last May 19, 2021. The community pantry's beneficiaries included the janitorial staff of the UPV Campus. According to the UPV website, "During this pandemic, many underprivileged people can hardly earn enough to sustain their family's basic needs. We are all aware that these people are among those who need our support. This prompted the library staff led by University Librarian Ms. Analiza G. Linaugo facilitated by Ms. Elsa Surmieda, College Librarian, to contribute financially or in kind. Through the efforts and cooperation of everyone, the said activity was materialized." Free Book: Safe Space, A Kid’s Guide to Data Privacy

The Globe eLibrary launched a book for kids on data privacy. The free downloadable book is entitled Safe Space: A Kid's Guide to Data Privacy . The book was created by the collaborative effort of Globe, National Privacy Commission, and the Center for Art, New Ventures & Sustainable Development (CANVAS). Liza Flores is the illustrator. The book is targeted for children aged 7-12 to help them understand online security and data privacy. The book includes the importance of keeping personal information private, how our online information can be in danger, and tips for parents and kids. Children are spending more time online for education and entertainment. This makes them vulnerable to those who may gather personal information about them to use for nefarious purposes. Free data access to CHED, TESDA, DepEd Commons, and Globe eLibrary extended to 2022

Globe Telecom recently announced that free data access to selected educational websites in the Philippines has been extended until 2022. Since 2020, these websites could be accessible through Globe's free data as a service to teachers and students during the pandemic. These include the websites of DepEd Commons, Commission on Higher Education (CHED), Technical Education and Skills Development Authority (TESDA), and the Globe eLibrary. With free data acess for Globe and TM customers, students using these platforms do not have to pay data charges for access. However, this does not apply to websites visited outside the list.  According to Globe's chief sustainability officer Yoly Crisanto, “We endeavor to help enhance opportunities for self-learning by making quality content available to teachers and students. 2021 Librarian Licensure Examination: what you need to know

2021 Librarians Licensure Examination Schedule and Venues According to the PRC's schedule of the 2021 board exams, the Librarian Licensure Examination or the LLE will be on September 8-9, 2021 (Wednesday and Thursday).  Examination venues will be in NCR, Baguio, Cagayan de Oro, Cebu, Davao, Iloilo, Legaspi, Lucena, Rosales, Tacloban and Tuguegarao.  Please note that this schedule might be subject to change due to COVID-19 precautions and the different protocols followed by cities, provinces, and regions. If there are any changes, this post will be updated.
