2021 Online Oathtaking for new Professional Librarians

2021 Oathtaking for Librarians to be held online The oathtaking for the new passers of the Librarians Licensure Examination or newly registered professional Librarians in the Philippines will be held online this 2021. According to the Professional Regulation Commission (PRC), the schedule of the online oathtaking for new librarians will be on April 15, 2021, Thursday, 10:00 in the morning . The event will be led by the PRC Cagayan de Oro via Microsoft teams. Requirements for the 2021 Online Oathtaking for Librarians What to wear: PRC advises the oath-takers to wear formal or business attire Online background: PRC recommends a white background (virtual backgrounds are fine) Online registration for the event is also required. It is located along Candelaria Street in Davao City. Davao City Mayor "Inday" Sara Duterte led the inauguration with the CARO chief Ms. Grace Nabong. About City Archives and Records Office (CARO) of Davao City CARO manages and archives the records of the city of Davao. It also serves as a repository of historical materials. Librarian Mariter Siozan shared pictures of the newly constructed library building. About Iloilo State College of Fisheries (ISCOF) ISCOF is the first and only Fisheries state college in the Philippines. Formerly Iloilo Regional School of Fisheries, it was converted into the Iloilo State College of Fisheries in August 1978 through Presidential Decree 1523. Dr. Elpidio M. Icamina served as the first President of the school. Globe supports kids' English language literacy

Globe is helping develop language literacy among children in view of the significant drop in the country’s global ranking in English proficiency.  This is also in support of the Department of Education (DepEd)'s efforts to address the growing threat posed on the public education system by the ongoing pandemic. Under its Global Filipino Teachers (GFT) initiative, Globe, through a partnership with Teach for the Philippines (TFP), provides essential learning sessions that promote 21st century learning and maximize digital resources among public school teachers and learners amid the COVID-19 crisis.  TFP works to provide Filipino children with inclusive, relevant, and excellent education. A focus of the GFT learning sessions is Early Language Literacy. Balay Mapanag Library, Museum, and Archives opens in Cuartero, Capiz

Photo from Balay Mapanag on Facebook Balay Mapanag , the Municipality of Cuartero Museum, Library, and Archives in Capiz opened today, February 25, 2021.  The National Commission for Culture and Arts (NCCA) through its Competitive Grants Program has helped established this new cultural center in Capiz. The name 'Mapanag' is from the original name of the municipality which was for the creek that acts as the boundary between Dumalag and Cuartero.  Currently, the library contains books, as well as historical and informative materials on the municipality of Cuartero. Ongoing is an exhibit on Cuartero's weaving and textile industry. On display are materials made by the locals from the town's different communities. Prior to launching, there was a series of trainings on museum and library work. Florida Atlantic University launch Spirit of America digital library

Spirit of America digital collection [ website ] Florida Atlantic University (FAU) Libraries launch the Marvin & Sybil Winer 'Spirit of America' digital collection The collection was donated by Marvin and Sybil Weiner in 2006. Marvin Weiner collected over 13,000 books and pamphlets pertaining to 16th to 18th century America. This collection is housed in the library's Special Collections and Archives. The digitized version of the collection includes almanacs, documents, letters, speeches, rare books, newspapers, and government publications. It is open and accessible for users not just in the university but globally. The librarians and staff of FAU digitized the materials. There are currently over 500 digitized documents available, with more being added daily.
