NIPSC-VSC launches 'Papang Vic' virtual reference assistant

The Northern Iloilo Polytechnic State College Victorino Salcedo Campus (NIPSC-VSC) Main Library recently launched Papang Vic, their library virtual reference assistant. NIPSC  is a state college located in Estancia, Iloilo, Philippines. It is mandated to provide higher vocational, professional, and technical instruction and training in the fields of industry, agriculture, fishery, engineering and sciences, and short-term vocational technical continuing courses. It has 8 campuses, including a high school, in Iloilo.  Papang Vic is based on the namesake of the campus, Don Victorino Salcedo, who donated the land for the school.  According to their Facebook page, "The NIPSC-Victorino Salcedo Campus Library created a Facebook page CHAT PAPANG VIC to assist students virtually in their information needs. UP Visayas Library launches Chat Bisay

Photo credit: UP Visayas Library on Facebook The University of the Philippines in the Visayas Library recently launched 'Chat Bisay', their virtual reference service. 'Bisay' is short for Lib-VISAI, or the Library Virtual Services Assistance and Interactions. Bisay is the library virtual chat service for all UP Visayas constituents. According to a Facebook post, "Chat Bisay is using the Facebook platform. Bisay is the avatar used by the library as “virtual assistant” or persona that users interact with, though librarians are the ones who provide necessary information via chat messaging. Facebook is being used as the platform for this service as most of our users have a Facebook account and it is more convenient for them to send a message through Facebook messenger. CAPSU Main Campus Library launches “Hello, Dolly!”

Source: CAPSU Main Library Facebook page Capiz State University-Main Campus Library located in Roxas City, Capiz has launched "Hello, Dolly!" a virtual reference chat service. This service can be accessed on their Facebook page  by sending them a message.  Here is a description of Dolly from their Facebook post : "“Hello, Dolly!” is the virtual reference chat service of CAPSU Main Campus Library.  This service provides immediate response to reference queries sent through our Messenger with the help of a chatbot.  Who is Dolly?  Dolly is our 24-7 virtual reference assistant. Normally, you would call her a chatbot, but we wanted to add little creativity, so we humanized this rather lifeless software application by giving her a face and a name. We baptized her “Dolly”, inspired by Dolores Deocampo, the first librarian and, technically, the pioneer reference service provider of this campus.
