St. Therese - MTC Colleges, a maritime higher education school based in Iloilo with campuses in La Paz, Tigbauan, and Molo, just launched its own virtual library assistant - TReSia. The acronym stands for Theresian Reference Service and Information Assistant.

According to their library FB page, "TReSIA is the STMTCC Library Virtual Reference Assistant who is readily available to respond to your reference and information queries. TReSIA will answer your reference needs through Stmtcc Library Department Facebook page (@libraryofficialpage) and e-mail.

Don't hesitate to ask assistance or request for e-books, e-journals, and other online researches."

TReSIA is wearing an outfit similar to the St. Therese school uniform.

Many libraries in Iloilo and Western Visayas adapted a 'virtual library assistant', usually an avatar where users can send their queries and messages.

CPU Henry Luce III Library has its own Bertha based on the university's first librarian Anna Bertha Houger. WVSU has Graciano (a.k.a. Graci) based on the namesake of their library building. CAPSU Main Campus has Dolly who is based on their first university librarian, Dolores de Ocampo. [Read more: CAPSU Main Campus Library launches “Hello, Dolly!” & WVSU Libraries launch chat services]

Prior to the pandemic, one famous virtual library assistant was De La Salle University's LoRa or Library Online Reference Assistant.
