Pasig City Library reopens as Pasig Knowledge Center after major renovation

After more than two years of closure, the Pasig City Library has reopened its doors to the public with a fresh identity as the Pasig Knowledge Center. The soft opening was held on May 15, 2026, with city officials and staff conducting a walkthrough of the newly renovated facility, followed by a blessing ceremony for both the building and its utility vehicle.

The library, which was closed in November 2023 to make way for extensive renovation, underwent a ₱87 million upgrade covering five floors and an extension. The project included a major fit-out and the installation of a new IT system, with staff currently working to input catalogue data for easier access to collections.

Facilities Now Open to the Public

Starting May 18, 2026, the library will welcome visitors from Monday to Saturday. For the soft opening, three floors are already accessible:

1st Floor – Children’s Area

4th Floor – General Library Services

  • Periodicals Section
  • Filipiniana & Pasigueño Collection
  • Theses and Special Collections
  • General Reference & Fiction Sections
  • Common Reading Area
  • Focused Study Zone
  • Computer and Digital Area

5th Floor – Focus and Refresh Hub

Reviewer Area with free WiFi and charging stations

Al Fresco Area (soon to host a concessionaire through a competitive selection process)

Mayor Vico Sotto noted that while the Discovery Centrum project has been placed on hold due to high cost estimates, its space may temporarily be used as additional study areas. He also mentioned ongoing efforts to identify land for a future District 2 Library.

A Hub for Learning and Community

The reopening of the Pasig Knowledge Center reflects the city’s commitment to education, culture, and accessible public spaces. With expanded facilities and modernized systems, the library aims to serve students, researchers, and the general public, while fostering a stronger reading culture in Pasig.

Residents are encouraged to visit and rediscover the library beginning May 18, as the city continues to explore ways to extend operating hours and enhance services.

The Library is located at Caruncho Ave, Pasig, Metro Manila.
