IFLA WLIC 2021 to go online

IFLA or the International Federation of Library Associations and Institutions is holding the World Library and Information Congress (WLIC) every year. As an international library and librarians' organization, the WLIC is considered to be the 'most international' librarians event.

Due to the COVID-10 pandemic, the IFLA WLIC 2021 will be held online with support from the Dutch National Committee organizing next year's congress.

The physical conference planned to be in Rotterdam, Netherlands on 2021 will move to 2023 and will be conducted in a hybrid online and physical format.

The congress will continue in Dublin, Ireland on 2022 with more online elements.

According to the IFLA Secretary General Gerald Leitner, "Our goal is to develop a program and format that combines the best aspects of our traditional conferences with the possibilities that digital tools bring to include all members of our field, all around the world, meaningfully.

Achieving success will require the best of our creativity and experience. We look forward to working with Members, volunteers and participants to deliver this."
