Call for donations: “Share your extras” at the SM Store and get discount vouchers

Are you trying to declutter and get rid of unwanted things in your space? Now is a good time to share your pre-loved clothes for Typhoon Odette victims through SM’s annual donation drive. Donors will also get free discount coupons from the SM Store. Share your Extras at the SM Store Now is the best time to clear the clutter, clean your closets, and share your extras with the less fortunate in the SM Store’s Share Your Extras campaign. A joint project of The SM Store in partnership with SM Foundation and local Department of Social Welfare and Development (DSWD), shoppers can donate their slightly used or brand new clothes (tops and bottoms) for infants to adults. DOST-STII Library offers free Online Library Literacy program and resources for schools

The DOST is offering several free library resources for the public. DOST STII (Department of Science and Technology Science and Technology Information Institute) is offering a free Online Library Literacy program for those interested in learning more about the information sources they have. This is an online orientation on how to access and use these resources.  The DOST-STII Online Library Literacy Program is an online version of library tour and orientation wherein requesting stakeholders are educated on how to avail of DOST-STII free resources, services and products, how to research in DOST-STII Library by using the library’s Online Public Access Catalog (OPAC), and how they can request materials online as well as how to navigate the different versions of DOST-STARBOOKS (offline, online, mobile, quiz app, and geomap app). PLDT, Smart offer additional rebates post Odette

PLDT and Smart continue to assist customers who were severely impacted by super typhoon Odette. With the tropical cyclone leaving a path of destruction in its wake, PLDT and Smart further extend additional relief to affected customers in the form of service rebates. “We understand the tremendous amount of effort needed for recovery, especially in areas that bore the brunt of the typhoon. The event is free for the public and interested librarians.  The topic for this episode is "Butuan City Public Library and the EIFL Public Library Innovation Award" with Ms. Jessica M. DOST unveils 1st 3D-printed monument of Jose Rizal

Photo from dost.gov.ph To commemorate the 125th anniversary of the death of Filipino National Hero Jose Rizal, the DOST in partnership with the National Historical Commission unveiled a 12-feet tall, 3D-printed monument named “Rizal the Filipino Scientist” in the DOST Compound in Bicutan, Taguig City. The 3D-printed sculpture is the first of its kind in the country. It was created by UP Diliman College of Fine Arts Professor Jose Manuel Sicat. The monument can withstand up to a 7.0 magnitude earthquake and 330 kph winds. The monument was 3D-scanned and 3D-printed at the Advanced Manufacturing Center (AMCen) of the DOST-Metals Industry Research and Development Center (DOST-MIRDC) in less than 2 months. According to DOST, “Rizal’s 3D statue is a tribute by the DOST to the life and legacy of Rizal and his contributions to the country especially in the field of science.
