Dr. Benhur A. Asid received the 2026 PRC Outstanding Librarian of the Year Award for his achievements in librarianship, leadership, and research. Each year, the Professional Regulation Commission (PRC) in the Philippines awards outstanding professionals to recognize their contributions. Dr. Asid's accomplishments include the following:
Leadership & Career: Serves as University Librarian overseeing 14 campuses at Western Mindanao State University and leads the National Committee on Libraries and Information Services under the NCCA.
Key Awards: Honored with the Outstanding Academic and Research Librarian Award, PFPA Distinction Award (Academe Category), Eulogio Rodriguez Award (PLAI), and recognized as one of the 75 Greatest Outstanding Alumni of Universidad de Zamboanga.
Research Recognition: Won Best Paper and Presenter at the International ADAB Conference and earned Grand Winner in the FIHRIS Research Article Writing Competition.
Professional Engagement: Active member and leader across major national library associations and serves on the Board of Trustees for the Silsilah Dialogue Movement.
