Webinar with 2 CPD points: Beyond fact-checking, libraries keeping up with misinformation

The Association of Special Libraries in the Philippines (ASLP) will be hosting a webinar with CPD points for librarians. The topic will be on the theme, "Beyond fact-checking: Libraries keeping up with misinformation." It will be held online on March 25, 2022 (Friday), 2-5 PM via Zoom.

The webinar was given 2.0 credit units by the Continuing Professional Development (CPD) Council for Librarians. 

Registration is free for ASLP members. There is a P350 registration fee for non-members and P100 for BLIS students.

The speakers for this webinar are Mr. Arniel V. Ping, LPT,  President of the Philippine Association of Media and Information Literacy (PAMIL); and Mr. Brian Aljer B. Coballes, MTM, EMC Coordinator, Educational Media Center of the Ateneo de Manila University.

The objectives of this webinar are: 

1. To discuss the critical distinction between the confusable words misinformation, disinformation and malinformation which are often used interchangeably
2. To determine current forms of misinformation online and in other media
3. To determine the challenges and issues faced by libraries in addressing misinformation.
4. To discuss how libraries address misinformation and mitigate them, and
5. To determine the solutions that libraries provide through Media and  Information literacy
