Quezon City Public Library launches all-gender restroom

Launching the all-gender restroom in Quezon City Public Library

Just in time for Pride Month, the Quezon City Public Library launched an all-gender restroom last June 8, 2021.

This initiative is part of the library's campaign to be a more inclusive environment, especially for the LGBTQA+ community.

This is also in support of the Quezon City Ordinance No. 2357, series of 2014, or the "Gender Fair Ordinance" which provides for a comprehensive anti-discrimination policy on the basis of sexual orientation, gender identity and expression (SOGIE).

According to the Quezon City Public Library, they believe that having an all-gender restroom can serve as an instrument to cater to the personal needs of members of the LGBT community.

In Quezon City, there have been past incidents where transgender women experienced harassment from simply entering women's restrooms. This is one of the incidents that led to the passing of the anti-discrimination ordinance.

The Quezon City Public Library is at Quezon City Hall Compound, Mayaman Street, Barangay Central, Quezon City.
