PHL CHED Connect, https://phlconnect.ched.gov.ph, was developed by CHED to maximize the use and increase availability of educational materials, raise the quality standards for educational resources, enhance opportunities for self-learning at home, and support multi-modal approaches to learning. It contains higher education course materials in text, media, and other digital assets that are useful for teaching, learning, and research purposes. Subject matters covered include humanities, architecture, business, engineering, IT, mass communications, criminal justice, agriculture, forestry and fishery among others.
CHED has partnered with Globe in offering free data access to the agency’s online learning portal for Globe and TM customers in line with the government’s thrust to provide quality educational resources to teachers and students especially under current circumstances.
With free data charges, Globe and TM customers can access pages and information within the platform via their mobile phone, tablet, or personal computer without worrying about internet cost. However, links on the PHL CHED Connect page that direct to websites outside the domain may incur standard data charges.
“CHED lauds this initiative by Globe so that more students and teachers can access educational materials online for free anytime and anywhere,” said CHED Chairman J. Prospero E. De Vera III.
“In this time of crisis when safety is of paramount concern, Globe keeps on finding ways for teachers and students to extend learning beyond face-to-face interactions through platforms that enable remote learning using mobile technology. By supporting CHED through free connectivity, we hope to empower our educational community and give them an opportunity to continue increasing their knowledge and honing their skills whenever and wherever they want to,” said Yoly Crisanto, Globe Chief Sustainability Officer and SVP for Corporate Communications.
The initiative is part of a larger commitment of Globe to support educators and learners in the new normal. Globe also ensures that accessibility of content extends to all learners under the Department of Education (DepEd), which covers elementary school, junior high school, senior high, and alternative learning as well as those taking up technical and vocational courses under the Technical Education and Skills Development Authority (TESDA).
Globe, earlier, provided free data access to DepEd’s online learning platform at https://commons.deped.gov.ph/, and the TESDA Online Program at https://www.e-tesda.gov.ph/ to encourage educators and learners to take advantage of supplementary online instructional materials.
Globe also has its own eLibrary at https://globeelibrary.ph/ which contains more than 1,000 free eBooks titles and e-Learner videos for students and teachers to view online and download offline. This platform may be accessed by Globe and TM customers without data charges.
