PLAI National Congress 2020 to be held in Iloilo City

The Philippine Librarians Association, Inc. (PLAI), will be holding their annual National Congress for the year 2020 in Iloilo City on November 24-27, 2020, according to a post [link] in the official PLAI Facebook page. The theme and venue are not yet announced.

The PLAI National Congress is no doubt the biggest gathering for librarians in the Philippines every year. Librarians, especially new professionals, should not miss this event. You can meet and network with other librarians from all over the country. It is also a good opportunity to learn about the latest trends and topics in the profession.

As a librarian here in Iloilo City, it's good that the National Congress will be held here. Attending a conference is quite expensive when it's in another place so this is convenient for librarians here in Panay and nearby places like Negros Island.

The last PLAI National Congress held in Iloilo City was in November 2013, in Punta Villa Resort, Arevalo, Iloilo City. A lot of changes and developments have occurred in Iloilo City for the past seven years. For librarians who will attend the Congress, you are in for a treat! When it comes to food, arts, and culture, Iloilo City is blooming right now.

Iloilo City is now an ideal place for conferences and the like. The Department of Tourism has launched a campaign last October 2019 to promote Iloilo City as a preferred destination for the meetings, incentives, conventions, and exhibitions (MICE) sector.

If you plan to attend the PLAI National Congress, you will surely enjoy your stay here in Iloilo City.

Also, I would like to meet some librarian followers of Malditang Librarian if you are interested, and if you're also attending the National Congress. As for me, I will try to volunteer for the event and work behind the scenes with PLAI Western Visayas Regional Council. See you here in Iloilo!

Since becoming a licensed librarian in 2015, I only have attended two PLAI National Congresses: 2015 in Ilocos Norte and 2017 in Bacolod (I wrote about that in this blog, "PLAI Congress 2017: Libraries Take Action").
